Adam Kinney caught up with Tyler Ballance at the SilverlightDevCamp in San Francisco. Tyler works for Slide, a company that uses a lot of Flash and creates a bunch of the widgets you've probably seen around the web. Adam Tyler built a version of one of their widgets in Silverlight and Adam got him to talk a bit about the differences between Silverlight and Flash.

Tyler seems like a good guy. I'm not sure I agree with everything he says, but some of it is great feedback for us at Adobe. I'd also agree that the transitions look a bit smoother in the Silverlight version versus the Flash version he shows. One thing Tyler said stood out, "with the exception of Flash 9, most Flash products previously have bitten us really, really hard." That says two things to me. One, that we're moving in the right direction with Flash 9 and two, that competition is good.

It's kind of a raw interview and the beginning is slow, but it's less than 10 minutes and is good to watch. It also sounds like Tyler is using Flash, so I want to get him to check out Flex :). Also, when is Channel 9 going to support Silverlight so I don't have to load up Qucktime to watch it?
