Small and medium size TFT panel shipments up 21.3% in Q3 2005

Shipment volume of the Taiwanese small and medium size panel industry reached 161.4 mln units in Q3 2005, for 21.3% YTY growth, but only 9.7% QTQ growth. The growth was attributed to the continuing increase in shipments of panels for value-line and mid-range handsets and DSCs (Digital Still Camera). Shipment value hit nearly $1.5 bln in Q3 2005, representing 11.0% YTY growth and 17.5% QTQ growth. This was driven by the steady growth of TFT-LCD (Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) shipments, which had a volume share of 25.3% and a value share of 52.5% in Q3 2005, according to Research and Markets.
