Sony unveils Billabong special edition VAIO W netbook

Sony Australia has teamed up with Billabong to release a special edition of the Vaio W laptop with a dripping paint pattern titled "Imperial Lime.

Only a notebook computer that looks like this could have been released in partnership with a surf and snowboarding apparel brand.

Sony Australia has teamed up with Billabong to release a special edition of the Vaio W with a dripping paint pattern titled "Imperial Lime." It doesn't look very regal.

Insisting on referring to this 10-inch machine as a "small laptop" rather than a netbook, Sony Insider has some of the details on this limited edition machine:

  • 10.1-inch LED backlit widescreen display (1,366 x 768 resolution)
  • Windows 7 Starter OS
  • Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz processor
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 250GB hard drive
  • Built-in webcam
  • Connectivity: Two USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet

Sony is set to unleash the Billabong VAIO W in Australia in June for $749 AUD ($623 USD). Compare that to the regular $449.99 USD price.

Seems like a bit too much of a price hike for a machine with some really basic specs and a design that looks like it was made by a kindergartner.
