Splunk on Tuesday launched an analytics service for information technology operations in a move that adds a front end to its machine learning tools.
The company's Splunk IT Service Intelligence tool is designed to provide visualizations and analytics to track technology infrastructure. The goal for Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) is to find issues, determine the cause and find fixes.
Splunk's software historically has been used to track IT infrastructure via logs. Splunk has become a key big data player in the enterprise and has been adding front-end tools to make its software more accessible.
According to Splunk, more than a dozen customers have been running ITSI in production environments to map key performance indicators. ITSI provides dashboards for IT services and monitoring, maps infrastructure and performance indicators, provides analytics and has drill down data to evaluate problems.
ITSI, available as a trial, comes as Splunk announced general availability of Splunk Enterprise 6.3. The latest Splunk Enterprise adds analytics, visualizations and event collection from Internet of things devices.
