Starbucks said Tuesday that it has named Gerri Martin-Flickinger chief technology officer. Martin-Flickinger was Adobe's chief information officer.
Martin-Flickinger will report to Starbucks' Kevin Johnson, chief operating officer.
The gig should be an interesting one for Martin-Flickinger. Starbucks has doubled down on mobile apps as a way to boost sales and velocity of orders. Starbucks hopped on the digital bandwagon early and is among the leaders in using technology in a retail setting.
Johnson said Martin-Flickinger brings "deep experience in cloud, big data analytics, mobile and security."
Martin-Flickinger will oversee Starbucks' technology and IT organization. Before Adobe, Martin-Flickinger was CIO at VeriSign, Network Associates and McAfee.
She starts Nov. 2.
