Singapore, 26 April 2000 - Singapore Technologies Telemedia, through its subsidiary, stt.com, and US-based Onyx Software, a provider of enterprise-wide, customer-centric e-business solutions, have formed a strategic alliance to create Asia's first hosted, web-based CRM (Customer Relationship Management) service.
The new service, known as CRM-on-Demand, will enable businesses of all sizes to take advantage
of an Internet-based customer relationship management system rapidly without the costs and challenges of implementing
and operating an in-house IT system.
Stt.com and Onyx will also collaborate to build a like-minded community of channel partners including system integrators, application service providers (ASP) and consultants, to help companies in the region become more customer-centric through the use of CRM. These channel partners will be able to deliver CRM-on-Demand without being hosts themselves.
Initially available in Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, CRM-on-Demand will be extended to Malaysia, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Brunei by the end of this year.
CRM-on-Demand will be hosted on stt.com's regional network of WEBCentres - which provides hardware and software support, and other IT resources. Together with Onyx, they will offer Onyx Front Office 2000, a customer-centric CRM solution, powered by the Onyx e-Business Engine.
Stt.com's infrastructure is built on open standards and offers solutions to companies in the region to build, host and operate Internet portals. These solutions are designed to support the latest technologies and integrate into multiple legacy data sources.
According to Lee Theng Kiat, President of Singapore Technologies Telemedia, the new customer-centric service will give companies the power to compete more effectively in the new economy. "The Internet is changing the way Asian companies do business and stt.com and Onyx are giving them a powerful way to compete," he said. "We are bringing to market a full suite of Onyx-based Internet relationship management capabilities and hosting it for customers to ensure that they are up and running quickly and without the hassle of running the applications themselves. This is unique in Asia and exciting for stt.com to be a part of."
"Onyx and stt.com are delivering a powerful hosted service with Onyx Front Office at the core. The Onyx platform will allow companies to define and address customer preferences and changing business conditions," said Mr
Brent Frei, Onyx Software President and CEO. "This agreement has many benefits. It gives Onyx a widespread distribution network across Asia, it gives stt.com a robust business service to extend to its current and future customer base, and it brings the power to win in the Internet economy to thousands of companies across Asia that compete for customers every day."
Said Tay Kiong Hong, General Manager/Vice President of stt.com: "CRM is all about differentiating customers, and then selling or serving them in a distinctive fashion. As Asian customers grow in sophistication, companies realise the need for meaningful and effective CRM to retain customers and to make a strong impact on their revenue and bottom line. At the same time, these companies are faced with the challenges of high investment cost and risk when implementing CRM on their own. stt.com recognises these unique sets of challenges which is why we have introduced this hosted, Web-based CRM solution. We will also work in partnership with our channel partners to help more companies in this region become more customer-focused."
"By using Onyx Front Office 2000 at stt.com, businesses get an enterprise-wide, customer-centric e-business solution that combines the best of traditional CRM with online customer interaction capabilities," said Mr J Y Pook, Onyx Managing Director for Asia. "They get flexibility, scalability and security, with a low total cost of ownership and a high return on investment."
Onyx Front Office 2000 offers an enterprise-wide, customer-centric e-business solution, combining traditional customer relationship management and online customer interaction capabilities.
