Sun Fire 4800

Based on UltraSPARC III technology, the Sun Fire 4800 server has full hardware redundancy and a variety of advanced mainframe-class availability features, such as Hot CPU Upgrades* and Dynamic Reconfiguration*. With Solaris Resource Manager and Dynamic System Domains*, the system has the flexibility to accommodate changing resource requirements across multiple applications.

Based on UltraSPARC III technology, the Sun Fire 4800 server has full hardware redundancy and a variety of advanced mainframe-class availability features, such as Hot CPU Upgrades* and Dynamic Reconfiguration*. With Solaris Resource Manager and Dynamic System Domains*, the system has the flexibility to accommodate changing resource requirements across multiple applications. The Sun Fire 4800 server can be utilized as a deskside system, placed in a Sun Fire cabinet, or mounted in an industry standard 19-inch rack.

*These features will be available late in 2001.

-Key Specifications: From two to 12 UltraSPARC III processors, up to 96 GB of memory, 16 PCI cards, and one or two Dynamic System Domains. The system offers mainframe-class concurrent maintenance, online upgrades and Hot CPU Upgrades. Additionally, this system offers mainframe-class resource management with fully fault isolated Dynamic System Domains. The high performance system, interconnect, the Sun Fireplane Interconnect, delivers 9.6 GB/sec. sustained bandwidth and has an aggregate bandwidth of 33.6 GB/sec. The system can be mounted in an industry standard 19" rack or Sun Fire Cabinet. It is also available in deskside packaging.
