Sun is expected to show its first Java terminal at a press conference scheduled for next Tuesday. If it is the same as the prototype shown in the UK earlier this year, it will be a diskless device based on a Sun Java-dedicated processor, measuring about the size of a hardback book.
IBM meanwhile plans a 200MHz PowerPC 603e-based NC with S3-based graphics, according to sources. The product will complement the firm's recently announced entry-level Network Station device.
Sun declined to comment and an IBM spokesman was unavailable.
