A Sydney rail-technology company has been awarded a $2.3 million contract to improve the operating efficiency and green credentials of Freightliner UK's 110 freight trains.
TTG Transportation Technology's contract-nabbing products act to tell train drivers when, where and how it is best to brake, accelerate and coast to save fuel while still arriving at the destination on time. The technology claims energy savings of between 7 per cent and 20 per cent.
TTG won the contract, with support from the New South Wales Government Department of Trade and Investment, which provided grants and intellectual property-development assistance.
Locally, Pacific National is currently deploying the TTG technology on its freight services.
