Symantec has launched a scale-out network attached storage appliance, the FileStore N8300.
The FileStore N8300 is a two- to six-node cluster with up to 1.4PB of storage. It integrates a number of Symantec software packages, including Enterprise Vault, Symantec AntiVirus for FileStore, NetBackup and Storage Foundation's SmartTier, Symantec announced on Monday.
The appliance is designed to deal with the growth in unstructured data, vice president for Symantec's FileStore Product Group, Yogesh Agrawal, said.
It is built upon the clustered file system from Symantec's Veritas Storage Foundation.
The FilreStore N8300 supports 146GB, 300GB and 450GB Fibre Channel drives, 146GB, 300GB and 450GB SAS drives and 500GB, 750GB, 1TB and 2TB SATA drives. The device has fibre channel and iSCSI connectivity.
Available from Monday in the UK, USA, Italy and UAE, pricing for the appliance begins at $72,648 (£45,397).
