Symantec's Handyman watches over Windows

Anti-virus specialist Symantec today introduced PC Handyman, a Windows 95 troubleshooting tool that can fix more than 20,000 PC problems.

PC Handyman (£50) follows the tradition of user-friendly help solutions which include Microsoft's unsuccessful Bob system guide and Symantec's own natural language query agent in Q&A for Windows.

The memory-resident program sits in the background and uses artificial intelligence to second-guess hardware and software problems, and fix them automatically. It also uses video clips and text to explain common problems and can answer questions entered as text. PC Handyman includes Norton's CrashGuard crash protection software.

Symantec can be contacted by telephone on 01628-592320.
