Syncing Evolution & Google Apps

I have been playing with my new Android phone, the T-Mobile Pulse Mini. It’s great, because I can use Remember The Milk task management (in a GTD-stylee) on my laptop, and sync it with my phone.

I have been playing with my new Android phone, the T-Mobile Pulse Mini. It’s great, because I can use Remember The Milk task management (in a GTD-stylee) on my laptop, and sync it with my phone.

Of course, I also needed to sync up my Evolution data with the phone as well. On the email front, this is pretty straightforward as I use Gmail set up with IMAP, and it works a treat.

However, there is some noodling involved for calendars and the address book. I firstly had to export the calendars in the .ics format, and import them into Google Calendars. Then I had to export my Evolution address book, create a Google address book in Evolutin, and import it into that.

A very handy guide for this process lives over at linux.com in an article entitled How to sync Evolution with Google's PIM apps.
