T-Mobile will roll out its Android 2.1 update for owners of the HTC Hero handset, which it calls the G2 Touch, between mid-March and early April.

The revised version of the phone's software, combining the latest version of Android with an updated version of HTC's Sense user interface, will be pushed out by HTC in March, the phone-maker recently said.

The last time the Hero got an upgrade (the handset is still on Android 1.5), T-Mobile took quite a while to get its own customisation out the door, severely irking many customers (such as myself).

However, according to a spokesperson on Wednesday, this time the update "should be coming out mid March or beginning of April". Here's holding thumbs.
