Taiwan ships 8.2 mln notebooks in Q4 2003

Taiwan shipments of notebook PCs set a record 8.2 mil units in the fourth quarter of 2003, up 68.4% year-on-year on the back of holiday demand and the replacement of desktop computers, a market researcher says. The figure marked a rise of 28.3% from the previous quarter, said the Market Intelligence Center (MIC), a unit of the Institute of Information Industry. Shipment value totalled 5.3 bil US dollars, up 49.9% year-on-year or up 27.5% from the quarter before.
