After Apple announced yet another amazing quarter, I thought it would be interesting to take a look at the sales data for the iPhone and the iPod.

Note: All data here comes from Apple quarterly reports.

First, let's look at iPhone sales over the past four quarters.

Here are the cumulative sales over the four quarters. Just under 5.5 million units have been sold.

Now let's chart the sales of the iPod over its 26 quarters lifespan.

And here are the cumulative sales totaling some 152 million units.

Next, just for fun, I superimposed the first four quarters of iPod data with the first four quarters of iPhone data. The results clearly show how powerful a sales machine Apple is now compared to 2002.

Impressive.
