Tandy changes name to Radio Shack

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Shareholders in Tandy Corp. (tan) voted Thursday to shed the 40-year-old family name in favor of RadioShack Corp., reflecting the company's newfound focus on the largest U.S. chain of retail electronics stores. The change is aimed at catching the attention of investors by putting the brand name on the share instead of the less well known Tandy tag, company Chairman, President and Chief Executive Leonard Roberts told the annual shareholder meeting.
