TeamQuest announced earlier this month the availability of TeamQuest Performance Software version 9.2. This release extends support to IBM eServer pSeries, zSeries and iSeries server platforms. In addition to IBM z/OS, OS/400 and i5OS support, the new version includes agents for VMware ESX server and network device, network applications and WebLogic.

Support for DB2 UDB and WebSphere agents on Microsoft Windows systems is also included. The network application agents provide end-to-end performance monitoring without installation of client agents, according to TeamQuest.

TeamQuest Performance Software is a suite of four integrated products designed to help optimize the performance of the data center and align IT with business priorities. It offers fire-fighting tools in its performance monitoring and analysis capabilities, as well as trend spotting so that problems can be addressed before they occur. The tools can help to predict the effects of configuration changes or of changes in business workloads.

The products are TeamQuest Model, TeamQuest View, TeamQuest on the Web and TeamQuest Alert. TeamQuest Model helps administrators predict application performance under varying loads and thus control behavior under demand spikes, avoid outages, and consolidate servers without incurring problems.

TeamQuest View analyzes end-to-end performance and service levels in real time and by historical analysis to detect bottlenecks.

Performance reporting is done by TeamQuest on the Web, which can access system performance data from any location that has a browser.

TeamQuest Alert manages multiple systems via events and rules of thumb. The company claimed it can monitor performance of hundreds of heterogeneous servers at once, using built-in rules to evaluate system performance.

The components retrieve data for analysis from the TeamQuest Manager, which collects, stores, manages and administers performance data.

In addition to the new platforms supported, the products continue to support numerous versions of Unix and Linux, Solaris, and Windows servers.

TeamQuest licenses by the managed server and bundles all agents into its base price. Pricing begins at $1,453 for a Windows/Linux system, $4,146 for Unix systems, $7,800 for iSeries systems, and $32,500 for zSeries systems. Quantity discounts vary by platform.
