TechnologyOne has purchased Icon Strategic Solutions, an unlisted Australian software company, for AU$10 million.
According to TechnologyOne, the acquisition forms part of the company's strategic focus to provide "innovative and relevant solutions for the local government sector".
"The unique IP and specialist functionality we are acquiring with Icon supports our vision of enabling councils to interact with their communities efficiently through online and digital channels," the company said in a statement.
TechnologyOne added that Icon's software solutions are currently being used by local governments to service their online self-service platform, enabling users to track applications and permits, view planning schemes, and browse community plans.
TechnologyOne is currently the preferred supplier for several local governments in both Australia and New Zealand. Last month, it won the contract to supply Wellington City Council with a new core IT system. Last year, it also scored a AU$1.2 million cloud technology deal with Noosa Council and AU$3 million deal with Campaspe Shire Council in northern Victoria.
This acquisition deal is in addition to TechnologyOne's AU$80 million commitment to create a cloud offering to help its customers amplify their computing model, reduce costs, and improve productivity.
