That's nice, but where's Cisco? SBC? Comcast? Vonage?

As with any other communications technology, VoIP has its security risks. Application-level attacks are not the least of these dangers.

That's why it is interesting to note the brand new VoIP Security Alliance. Announced yesterday, this group of 22 manufacturers, suppliers and security researchers will seek to focus on, and find solutions for, VoIP security issues.

I have to tell you though, that I am only mildly impressed by their list of charter members. Yes, 3Comand Siemensare on board, but what about Cisco? I see Qwest, but what about the three bigger ILECs, including AT&T buyer SBC?I see cable system operator Charter Communications, but where are Comcast and Time Warner Cable?

And where, for that matter, is Vonage?

Sounds like some of the big players are taking a wait-and-see attitude.
