At Bloggercon III in an opening session on podcasting, I used the term "podosphere" to signal the emergence of a boostrapped audio paradigm on top of the blogosphere. Within seconds of the comment, Stowe Boyd of Corante had logged on to Network Solutions zen.names.com and grabbed the domain. Just another indication of the velocity with which podcasting is driving the consolidation of RSS as the organizing protocol of reputation, trust, and authority.
While many of us agonize over postmortems of the election gone wrong, others are awakening to the notion that just as podcasting is letting a million channels bloom, so are a million political parties, each with powerful characteristics and influence that can make a real difference in our lives. Such is the magnetic and supple power that courses through the podosphere.
