The top 30 leaders in crowdfunding

Who are the most influential and important people in the crowdfunding community?

Crowdfunding, a way to plea for project investment through the web, has evolved in to a booming industry for entrepreneurs and investors.

By outlining your project on sites including Indiegogo and KickStarter, if your idea appeals to the masses -- whether it be low energy light bulbs or smart home security devices, you can raise enough money to get the idea off the ground.

It's not just the entrepreneur with an idea that makes crowdfunding work. Investors, journalists, politicians and legal professionals all have a place in promoting, controlling and pushing the industry forward -- and there are a number of people who hold a lot of sway in the realm of crowdfunding.

Israeli equity crowdfunding platform OurCrowd and marketer Evolve have selected 30 figures who are thought to have the most influence, through social reach, citations, analyst thoughts and the opinions of industry insiders. Speaking to VentureBeat, OurCrowd CEO Jon Medved said:

"We looked around and no one has really tried to come up with a list that made sense of the movers and the shakers in the industry. Like any list, you can always poke holes in it, but I think we've got a pretty darn good solution here."

The most influential person to top the list is Perry Chen, cofounder and former CEO of KickStarter, one of the most well-known crowdfunding platforms. Following Chen is angel investor Naval Ravikant, founder of AngelList.
