Ever since I smashed my Windows Mobile against our bedroom wall, I’ve been hunting for a new mobile phone. Collaboration just isn’t the same as when you can Evernote from your palm. Android is certainly one of the platforms we’re looking at for our company, which of course got me looking into collaboration applications. Here are five droid apps any business professional to will want for his or her Droid.

You can’t get anything done if you are constantly trying to remember what it was that you were supposed to be doing. Thanks to a company called ToDoRoo, you won’t have to wonder.Their application, called Astrid Task, is an interactive to-do list for your Android. You make the list and Astrid becomes the nagging time-keeper to ensure that you do just as you planned for the day. With well worded reminders, this assistant will be there to keep you on track.

What about when you are out and about and stored on your colleague’s phone is the information that you need for your next appointment?Well, why not give the guy a shove, or perhaps a Bump would be better. By Bump Technologies, this application does just what you might think. It allows for instant transfer between phones.Better yet, your buddy doesn’t even have to have an Android. The application is available for other smartphones as well and as long as both phones are equipped with the program, they can be bumped.

To make sure you can access all of that pertinent information, you will likely need to have a document reader.Documents to Go, by DataViz is an application that will enable you to view, edit, and (get this!) create documents while on the fly. That means you can go over the contract sent to you earlier in the day, make corrections, create a letter of explanation and send it all back to the original sender without ever stepping foot in your office.Combine that with the powers of RepliGo Reader (that’s right, I’m sticking in a sixth app), which allows for reading, bookmarking, and text search of PDF files and you will basically have a desktop that you can hold in your hand.

If you bring a hard copy of a contract along and get a client to sign, don’t waste time. You can scan it, save it and send it on the spot thanks to Burrotech. With Scan2PDF, a highly talked about application, use your phone’s camera to take a shot, save it as a .pdf file, and get it on its way to where it’s needed. All you need is a little light, a steady hand, and you are on your way to a scanner free life.

When you have finally finished the tasks at hand, you may want to sit back and take inventory of all the miles you have logged. My Mileage Tracker, by HandyX, will allow you to not only see where you have been, but to assign the miles (and therefore the cost) to the applicable clients. If organization is the key to business, this application is a great way to get ahead of the game.
