Greenlite Lighting, a Montreal-based manufacturer of compact fluorescent light bulbs, is hiring none other than Santa Claus to give out 2,008 free light bulbs as a Christmas-time publicity stunt in New York's Times Square.

Hmmm, do you suppose he'll be competing for attention with the Naked Cowboy?

Greenlite's bulbs are Energy Star-certified and the company claims that they use two-third less energy and last 10 times longer than incandescent light bulbs. The company will hang a billboard designed by Korey Kay & Partners on the Marriott Marquis to tout green lighting.

I figure this is all good for a couple of shots on Good Morning America. Now, can you imagine if all the neon was turned to shades of green? I dare someone to do it.
