Top Android news of the week: $161 tablet, Jolla halts deliveries, Motorola updates

It was a slow holiday week for news in Android and apart from the Black Friday deals we heard about Motorola Marshmallow updates, saw Jolla shut down deliveries, and a tablet emerged for just $161 with either Android or Windows.

If you can't make your mind up if you want Android or Windows on your tablet, Xiaomi has you covered. The upcoming Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 will be available shortly with options for either OS.

The 7.9 inch tablet has an Atom processor and typical components for a budget slate.

Marshmallow updates availability for Moto phones

Owners of the Moto G3, G2, X 2015, and X 2014 will br getting updates to Marshmallow soon. Word has this beginning as early as November but no official word from Motorola on timing.

The updates will be happening on all four majjor US carriers.

Jolla restructuring, preorders unfulfilled

The company behind Sailfish OS has failed to fill orders for its tablet sold in a crowdfunded campaign, and is restructuring its debt to continue operation. Jolla is halting all product deliveries as part of the restructuring.

Jolla started back in the Nokia days prior to the Microsoft acquisition.
