Even as it releases two high-profile products - the Equium business desktop and the Libretto tiny PC - Toshiba is not letting up on its bread-and-butter notebook line. The Japanese giant yesterday refreshed its entire family comprising Portege, Satellite, Satellite Pro and Tecra units.

Perhaps the highlight of the refresh is the Portege 300CT, Toshiba's slimmest unit yet with 16:9 aspect ratio 1,024 x 600 TFT wide screen. A 133MHz Pentium MMX-based unit with 32Mb EDO RAM, 1.4Gb hard drive, 2Mb graphics controller and USB port costs £2,650+VAT. The optional CD Docker is a slim cradle with 10-speed CD-ROM drive and speakers integrated.

Elsewhere, faster MMX processors, better screens, faster CD-ROM drives and USB are introduced throughout the lines.
