Mehta is currently vice president of Emerging Products for Trend Micro in California. He will move to Australia and start as the Australian head on 1 July 2012.

Mehta has been at Trend Micro since 2010 with his current role, and later also took on the role of vice president of global sales enablement. Before starting at Trend Micro, he was CEO of Breach Security until its acquisition by Trustwave.

"I am excited to be taking up the new position with Trend Micro ANZ, which has emerged as one of the largest and most dynamic markets for Trend Micro globally," Mehta said. "I look forward to maintaining our leadership in the core areas of cloud security, virtualisation and internet security."

The current Australia and New Zealand managing director, Dave Patnaik, will leave the company to head overseas for a "senior role".

"Under his leadership, Trend Micro doubled its revenues and is now a leader in cloud security, and ranked among the top two software security vendors in Australia. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours," Eva Chen, CEO of Trend Micro, said.
