The mobile industry braces itself for wave of lawsuits...

A former employee of Motorola suffering from a brain tumour is to file a personal injury case against the mobile phone manufacturer today in Washington DC. Michael Murray, 34, is seeking compensation and punitive damage for the tumour he claims is caused by radiation emissions from the phones. The case is expected to be filed in the District of Columbia Superior Court. The mobile phone industry faces a wave of health-related lawsuits in the US and federal agencies expect to be targeted for failing to promote handsets and other radiation minimising devices. However, medical opinion remains split over whether mobile phones are a cause of brain tumours.
