Ahead of its public offering, Twitter has poached another executive from Google -- this time an advertising specialist to head up its retail division.

As reported by Bloomberg, J.J. Hirschle, a former advertising executive at the search engine giant, will start working for Twitter on October 28 as head of the retail division. J.J. Hirschle, a director of media and entertainment advertising at Google, will now be responsible for selling advertising products to retail firms, Twitter spokesman Will Stickney said.

Hirschle's Twitter account description appears to verify his new post.

Twitter may be a household name, and revenue rates are increasing quickly, but the firm is yet to generate profit . In the filing, the company revealed annual revenues of $316.9 million.

Roughly 2,000 people work at the microblogging site full-time.
