UK's Microvitec wins £0.5m desktop LCD deal

UK monitor maker Microvitec has won a contract worth over £500,000 that underlines the growing pulling power of desktop LCD screens.

The Bradford, West Yorks.-based company will supply over 1,500 displays to the Alliance & Leicester in the course of a nine-month roll-out beginning this month. The screens are all 12.1-inch 800 x 600 TFT units and will allow the building society to save desk space compared to bulkier CRT designs. Other advantages of LCD panels include ergonomics, low power consumption and superior aesthetics, the firm said.

Microvitec can be contacted by telephone on 01274-390011.
