Wireless broadband provider Unwired announced today it had forged a supply agreement with data service company People Telecom.

The agreement will give People Telecom access to Unwired's broadband service for five years to supply People Telecom customers with an alternative to fixed line broadband and dial-up Internet connections.

Chief executive of Unwired, David Spence is confident that customers will benefit from the "Unwired broadband experience".

"People Telecom is well positioned with a strong SME and corporate customer base that will allow us to take the Unwired service to the business world," said Spence.

According to Spence, this partnership marks the beginning of many to come over the next few months, as the company attempts to create its own space in commercial broadband market.

"With our current merger with Swiftel we will have more than 30,000 business and consumer customers and are aggressively growing this base," said Spence. "We will also be looking at potential opportunities to offer voice over internet products through Unwired at a later date."

People Telecom and Unwired expect to have a service available by August this year.
