[UPDATE: Nielsen has owned up to a foul-up concerning the stats.]
A third of iPad owners have never installed any apps on their iPads, according to a study carried out by Nielsen.
Digging deeper, while 32% have not downloaded an app, 5% have only downloaded free apps. That still leaves a whopping 63% who have downloaded paid apps.
Of the paid apps, games lead the way, accounting for 62% of apps, with books coming in second at 54%.
There's also an interesting breakdown of how people use their iPads compared to iPhone usage. It seems the increased screen size means that people turn to the iPad for content consumption, such as reading ebooks, watching TV shows and movies, and reading magazines. For radio, news and music people are more likely to turn to the iPhone ... but the gap is small.
According to the study, 4% of US households now own tablet computers.
