Updated the HTC Touch Diamond and Advantage X7510 with new firmware

As regular readers know, I posted a couple of articles on my experiences with the HTC Touch Diamond (here and here are my latest two). For the most part, the device I have had has been a great performer with a fluid TouchFLO 3D experience, as shown in several of my videos, and decent battery life. I also wrote up my thoughts of the HTC Advantage X7510, focusing mainly on the hardware since the ROM was a test ROM. I was very pleased to receive the latest shipping ROMs for both devices on Friday evening and flashed both devices to see what has been improved.

The ROM I had on the HTC Touch Diamond was version 1.35.401.3 and after flashing the ROM my device now reflects that it has a 1.37.405.1 ROM loaded onto it. One of the first things I noticed was that I now have Google Maps preloaded onto the device. TouchFLO 3D was already performing quite well on my Diamond, but now it really flies and is much smoother. I also understand that battery life may be a bit longer with this ROM, but need a few more days to test this out myself. Now that I have had a chance to go more places with the Touch Diamond I am finding that the RF reception is less than other devices I have used and when the signal gets weak, the device seems to take a while to pick up the signal again and this is actually driving me nuts.

The HTC Advantage X7510 I received had a test ROM, labeled version 3.21.405.1, and it now has ROM version 3.27.405.3. I haven't noticed much difference on the Advantage 7510, but then again I never really found any issues with the test ROM. If I find anything else of interest in this latest ROM then I'll post more thoughts on the update. Check out a couple other reviews on the Advantage 7510 if you are interested too:

BTW, as I clearly stated before in my posts, I received both of these devices from HTC as part of the Mobius 2008 conference. No obligation to write about the devices or review them was requested by HTC. Please read my reviews and check out my photos, screenshots, and videos to see how the devices perform to validate my written thoughts and experiences. I also recommend you check out the many other reviews to form your own opinion on the devices.
