US digital camera penetration to reach 40% by year-end 2004

At least 10 million digital cameras will be sold nationwide in Q4 2004, up 35% from Q4 2003, according to IDC. By the end of 2004, digital cameras will be in about 43 million American homes, reaching 40% penetration.

At least 10 million digital cameras will be sold nationwide in Q4 2004, up 35% from Q4 2003, according to IDC. By the end of 2004, digital cameras will be in about 43 million American homes, reaching 40% penetration. By 2007, that 40% penetration could reach 70%. Sales could jump another 25% next year, but the growth curve will dip to around 11% in 2006 and a mere 1% in 2007.
