US online retail to total $172 bln in 2005

The US online retail market (together with auctions and travel) was $172 bln in 2005, according to Forrester Research. In Europe, the online retail market was only about 40 bln euros (about $48 bln) in 2004, but Forrester estimates that by 2009, it will quadruple to more than 167 bln euros.
