As expected, the Verizon personal hotspot will be capped at 2GB per month with each additional gigabyte costing $20. No surprises there.
By comparison, the AT&T iPhone data plan costs $15/mo. for 200MB or $25/mo. for 2GB and it doesn't offer personal hotspot. AT&T does offer a USB tethering option for $20/month, but you have to give up your unlimited data plan to get it. Yes you read that right.
With personal hotspot and unlimited data the Verizon iPhone poses a serious threat to the AT&T model -- all other things being equal. If the customer doesn't have good AT&T coverage in their area, AT&T has no shot.
AT&T will undoubtedly respond to Verizon's one-two punch (three if you count the network), but it remains to be seen how.
Why would a new iPhone subscriber to go with AT&T over Verizon anyway? Am I missing something?
