Salesforce.com's Marc Benioff introduces Appexchange, a new service that allows developers to create, stors, share and sell applications and components that integrate with the salesforce.com platform (now called Appforce.)

At a press event in New York City, Sun Microsystems VP John Fowler and Sun co-founder Andy Bechtolsheim show off the Sun Fire X4100, part of the new Galaxy family of servers. Designed by Bechtolsheim, the machines are based on  a special version of AMD's 64-bit Opteron dual core processors and support Solaris 10, Linux and Windows.
