Hundreds of thousands of Vodafone customers affected by networking theft but service is being restored...
Vodafone is working to restore service to hundreds of thousands of customers who lost voice, SMS and internet services following a break-in at one of its facilities.
Vodafone said a "few hundred thousand" customers were affected after networking hardware was stolen from its Basingstoke centre. The company said some services have already been restored.
In a statement, Vodafone said: "We had a break-in last night at one of our technical facilities which resulted in damage done to some of our equipment.
"This means that some customers may be experiencing temporary loss of voice, SMS and internet services. We are working quickly to restore these and will be back to normal as soon as we can."
The company said there has been no impact on the privacy of customers' data.
