Vonage seems to be experiencing more outbound calling difficulties today.
Early this afternoon, I had some difficulty placing calls on my Vonage line. I managed to get a dial tone, but when I actually made the calls I kept getting a fast busy.
Then, I hopped over to the Vonage VoIP Forum, an independent site that is the most thorough and often the most rapid-response resource for discussing these issues. You'll often see reports of service outages on the Vonage VoIP Forum as well as the VoIP section of Broadband Reports.com.
My takeaways from careful readings of all posts on both threads:
Some posters have reported outbound calling issues, some say everything is fine, at least a few seem to harbor the notion that Vonage should concentrate at least as much on their technical infrastructure as they do on marketing and advertising.
On the other hand, there don't seem to be as many reports of Vonage being down as there were last week. And it does appear most of the problems are in the Northeast and West Coast of the U.S.
We don't know the full story behind today's problems yet, but we'll post it here when we do.
