West and Vidyo form strategic partnership to scale cloud-based services

Video conferencing is still a growth area for providers who want to offer customers a flexible set of choices and collaboration tools regardless of location, network speeds or devices.

Chicago based audio conferencing provider, West has announced a global strategic partnership with Hackensack, NJ based technology and cloud-based services provider, Vidyo to enhance its InterCall Video Conferencing Solution and scale its cloud-based service.

West wanted to upgrade its branded web conferencing service, Unified Meeting 5 (UM5).

It integrated the VidyoWorks platform into its Intercall portfolio to deliver video over WiFi, HD support on capable devices, group videoconferencing and optional on-premise media server extensions.

It also will deliver interoperability with third party voice and video systems.

The company's product portfolio also includes Call Manager and MobileMeet.

It aims to provide its customers a "robust and comprehensive offering" to address the "growing need for enhanced work group collaboration".

West's Unified Communications Services, was ranked by Wainhouse Research as the largest conferencing services provider in the world, based on volume.

It delivered 27 billion minutes of audio conferencing usage with 737 million participants in 2015. Vidyo was named a "Leader" by Gartner in the Magic Quadrant for Group Video Systems.
