I've often said in this space that in enterprise VoIP, the packet-quality measuring tools that quantify performance are overlooked but necessary elements.

In that vein, I'm interested in news about WildPackets' Omni Version 3.0 enterprise network analysis platform, just released today. One of the platform components, OmniPeek, offers VoIP node analysis right down to specific conversation pairs.

I've used WildPackets related EtherPeek on my own network, and have found the displays and information sets easy to read, and to implement diagnostic solutions from.

Haven't tried Omni 3.0 yet, but Wild Packets notes ireal-time VoIP packet analytics, richer graphical interface, and (whew!) application layer decodes. If I were a full time network admin, I'd also be turned on by what appear to be routines that allow for different users to access different data based on need.
