MSNBC.com has an interesting and helpful article today about VoIP over WiFi (VoWiFi), a technologywhich enables calls from wireless Internet phones to a computer or any other phone.

The piece is correct in its assertion that because the handsets tend to be large and bulky, VoWiFi is currently experiencing most of its use in the enterprise space. Yet, as the article notes, Motorola and HP will introduce their first, handy-to-use, VoWiFi sets in the next few weeks, with Nokia, NEC and others slated to get on board by mid-2005.

The article did not mention that net2phone has just released a VoWiFi handset. The XJ100 costs $160, can handle voice mail caller ID, and call forwarding. The5'5"x1'9"x0.8" size,3.9 ouncedevice isboth 802.11g and 802.11b compliant.

You already use a cell phone. By virtue of being here, you have an interest in VoIP. Are you interested in combining the two? Are you interested in the XJ100, or are you going to wait for the size and price of these phones to come down when VoWiFi hits the market full force?
