Microsoft has made the Windows Azure Toolkit for Windows 8 compatible with Windows 8 consumer preview, the company announced on Tuesday.

The update lets developers use Microsoft's Azure cloud to bring live updates and push notifications to applications built on Windows 8's Metro-style user interface in the operating system.

The toolkit's key features include documentation for installing and deploying applications to work with Windows Azure, automated install scripts, project templates to ease application development and five sample applications.
