WLAN equipment revenue up 20% in Q1 2005

Despite plummeting ASPs from fierce vendor competition, worldwide WLAN equipment revenue rose 20% to $767.6 mln between Q4 2004 and Q1 2005. 12.2 mln units were shipped, the highest quarterly volume to date, according to Infonetics Research. Revenue is expected to rise another 2% to $779.6 mln by Q1 2006, and will hit $3.6 bln by 2008. Wireless LAN switch ports rose 44% to 112,000; revenue grew 13% to $52.2 mln and is expected to jump to $699.2 mln by 2008.
