Wyse steps up support for tablets, bolsters PocketCloud software

Wyse on Thursday said it has improved its PocketCloud software for smartphones and tablets.

The company said that PocketCloud 1.1 adds better Microsoft security and optimization for the Samsung Galaxy Tab and Cisco Cius.

Software vendors such as Wyse, Citrix and VMware have been racing to better support tablets. Citrix offers virtual desktop applications via the iPad and its Receiver software is popular.

Wyse's PocketCloud is designed to allow desktop access from Android and Apple iOS devices.

Thus far, PocketCloud has been downloaded by more than 250,000 users. Key features in the latest version include a custom keyboard, remote app scrolling, secure tunneling and multi-touch gestures.
