Yell puts 30,000 businesses on the Web

Yellow Pages Web site Yell will this week roll out 30,000 free sites as the first stage of its plan to give one-page sites to directory-listed companies.

Businesses get a Web address plus basic information including address, phone, fax and mobile numbers, payment methods and opening hours in the Electronic Yellow Pages area of Yell.

"The initial response is excellent and we believe that our offer could result in hundreds of thousands of businesses having a presence on the Web," said Eddie Cheng, new media services director at Yell.

Cheng added that Yell is currently receiving over two million page views per month.
