BlackBerry service still down- but you wouldn't know it from RIM site

BlackBerry email service was still down across North America at the time of this post.

Complaints are still flooding the three major BlackBerry Forums- places where BB users often vent. Because so many people are asking and venting, most forums pages are loading slowly.

Here.

Or here

But you know something? Not only does the BlackBerry site offer no service advisory, but there is no acknowledgement of a problem that has been in effect for more than 12 hours now.

Update: A little more than 12 hours after the network went down, BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion added the following on an automated customer service help line:

"We are currently experiencing a service interruption that is causing delays in sending or receiving messages."

Still nothing on the website, though. In an era where other communications network operators- and even public utilities- routinely post glitches and service reports- the absence of this on the site is inexcusable.

That lack of notification is beyond slack. But to understand the reason for this, BlackBerry's corporate culture has always been to defer to carrier partners for consumer interactions.

Time to change that and post some updates, RIM.

Time to change that, now.
