Avaya acquires Radvision video conferencing provider

Avaya's goal through purchasing Radvision is to provide its customers with an enhanced suite of HD video collaboration products at a more cost-effective rate.

Business communications solutions provider Avaya is expanding its telepresence solution arsenal with the acquisition of Radvision, a Tel Aviv-based company developing HD and converged video conferencing solutions.

Under the terms of the deal, Radvision shareholders will receive $11.85 per share, valuing the transaction at approximately $230 million. The acquisition is expected to close within approximately 90 days.

Avaya's goal through purchasing Radvision is to provide its customers with an enhanced suite of HD video collaboration products at a more cost-effective rate with integration into unified communications systems.

After the deal closes, Radvision's enterprise video infrastructure and high value endpoints will be integrated with Avaya's Aura Unified Communications platform to accelerate the adoption of video collaboration. Radvision and Avaya's channel partners will also be working together to deliver UC Video integration, operational support, and professional services.

Radvision's video solutions are targeted at all customers ranging from the small business to the enterprise level with services supporting endpoints, infrastructure and mobility strategies on room-based systems, desktop, and mobile consumer devices.

Additionally, Avaya is looking to promote its platform for use on the iPad and Android mobile devices to meet support the B2B, B2C and bring-your-own device trends.
