IBM's Tivoli monitoring applications are now available on Amazon Web Services. The Tivoli move highlights another addition to Amazon's stable of enterprise-class applications available on its platform.

In the past year, Amazon Web Services has done much to bolster its enterprise cloud computing credibility by offering a wide range of applications used regularly by IT managers. As cloud competition heats up, the portfolio of applications available may be the difference that lands enterprise customers.

IBM Tivoli monitoring is now available as an Amazon virtual machine. In a blog post, Amazon said: "IBM provides self-install scripts for data collection agents, self-help guides and maintains infrastructure for delivery of Tivoli software. Because there is no hardware or software to purchase — and because the hourly price for Tivoli on EC2 includes an IBM licence — it's super easy to get data collection up and running."
