The buzz surrounding the next generation of the iPhone continues. A new report suggested that the iPhone 5 will sport a curved glass cover.

DigiTimes reports (according to unnamed "industry sources") that "Apple reportedly has purchased 200-300 glass cutting machines" for the purpose of making these special displays. Not much more is specified except that the Cupertino-based company is "currently still working with related suppliers including those involved in cover glass, glass cutting, lamination and touch sensors to improve yield rates."

Most reports to date have suggested that Apple will not be implementing a serious design change until at least the iPhone 6. The look of the iPhone 4 that was unveiled last year was the biggest departure since the original iPhone debuted in 2007. Engadget poses the idea that this new iPhone could look fairly similar to slender and curved design seen on the iPod nano.

Several other images that are claimed to depict the iPhone 5 have circled the blogosphere lately, including one with a larger display and more advanced cameras. Another rumor is that the next iPhone will include NFC capabilities. Improved specs like that are actually easier to fathom if the iPhone 5 is in fact just a stepping stone to the iPhone 6.

Again, none of this is official as Apple has remained completely mum when it comes to this smartphone. The device isn't even expected to be introduced until this fall, which bucks Apple's habit of announcing new iPhones in June during WWDC.
