Select Dell business laptops get more mobile on Verizon 4G network
Laptops are already portable devices but they're not truly mobile without Internet everywhere these days. Dell is remedying that situation for some of its Latitude-brandednotebooks.
With some help from Verizon Wireless, Dell is equipping the Latitude E6420 computer with 4G LTE mobile broadband technology. The partners have gone a step further to optimize the Latitude’s video, voice and data technology for 4G speeds, which are promised to be up to 10 times faster.
It is likely that the Latitude E6420 was selected from Dell's abundant catalog of laptops because this computer happens to sport a 12-hour battery life. Of course, 4G connectivity definitely reduces the battery life on any gadget much faster. Most 4G-enabled smartphones and mobile hotspot devices last between four to six hours on average (if lucky) when being used for regular browsing.
However, the combination of the long battery life (which can still matter even if drained quicker by a few hours) with 4G makes this a solid choice for a frequent business traveler.
As of now, the Latitude E6420 base model can be configured to support 4G. Additionally, the rugged E6420 ATG and E6420 XFR notebooks will be able to make use of 4G speeds as well by the end of the year.
But don't forget about the rather pricey 4G data plans and contracts from Verizon that will surely be required.
